Summer Fun


Summer's here! Here are a few ideas for your summer fun including a sweet treat, a refreshing drink and an easy afternoon craft. Be taken away to a world without power as you begin the book series Restoration by Terri Blackstock.

Peanut Butter Cookies
1 C. Peanut Butter
1 C. Sugar
1 EGG
Heat oven to 375. Stir ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Roll dough into one inch bowls. Put some sugar in a small bowl and roll bowls into sugar to coat the balls. Place balls 2 inches a apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Press each ball down wiht a fork to make a crisscross design. Bake for 10 minutes or until cookies are light brown around the edges. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack. (Invite friends over for an afternoon snack or take to a few to a friend you haven't seen in awhile.)

Fresh Squeezed Lemonade
4 Lemons
1 C. Sugar
Ice (As desired)
Cut lemons into half and squeeze juice from lemons. Use a juicer if you have one. Pour into a pitcher. Add sugar and ice. Shake to mix. Add water to make a half gallon. (Invite a friend over to share as the kids play.)

Finger Paint
1/2 C. Cornstarch
2 C. Cold Water
3 Tablespoons Sugar
Food Coloring
Mix over low heat until thick, stirring constantly. Then add food coloring. (Paint on paper, let dry and then send the masterpiece to a family member or friend.)

You'll begin reading and be pulled into the story becoming curious about how life will go on without power while focusing on one families journey of faith and seeing God's provisions and truth through their situation and daily struggles.
